Our Why

ElderWell Integrated Care was created from both personal experience and years of professional leadership within behavioral health and aging services.
For over 15 years, founder J. Alex Briceno has worked across behavioral health systems throughout California, supporting individuals and families navigating complex mental health, aging, and care challenges. But long before ElderWell existed, these experiences were personal.
Alex was very close with his grandparents and helped care for his grandfather as he aged and developed dementia. As the disease progressed, his family experienced firsthand the confusion, emotional strain, difficult decisions, and changing family dynamics that often come with caregiving and memory loss. Eventually, his grandfather transitioned into an assisted living setting in Mexico, further highlighting the emotional and logistical complexities families face when trying to balance care, culture, distance, and quality of life.
At the same time, Alex’s professional experience shaped another important realization: meaningful care rarely comes from isolated services alone.
Throughout his career, he has led community-based behavioral health programs built around multidisciplinary teams that included clinicians, psychiatrists, physicians, nurses, case managers, housing navigators, court liaisons, residential counselors, and care providers. Working within these systems reinforced the importance of collaboration, communication, and integrated support across every level of care.
Those experiences became the foundation for ElderWell.
Rather than offering siloed services, ElderWell was designed around an integrated model that recognizes that mental health, aging, caregiving, medical needs, environment, and social support are all deeply connected. Our goal is to help individuals, families, providers, and organizations navigate those complexities with greater clarity, coordination, and compassion.
We believe support should feel personal, collaborative, and grounded in real-world understanding.
Because when care becomes complicated, no one should have to navigate it alone.
